Emmi ® is a web-based program that provides you with easy-to-understand medical information that you can access from any computer, tablet or smart phone. Emmi ® programs typically take about 20 minutes to watch and provide step-by-step information about managing a chronic condition or how to prepare for an upcoming procedure.
You can view the program at your own pace. At the end, you’ll have the opportunity to print a summary of the information along with any questions you may have for your doctor.

Many patients who are immigrants have expressed concerns about keeping scheduled medical appointments out of fear that they could put themselves and their family members at risk.
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy rule protects the privacy of our patients. We do not share patient information, including information about immigration status (if it is known), with local police or Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) unless legally required to do so. Further, Johns Hopkins’ safety and security officers do not request information regarding citizenship, nor do they enforce federal immigration laws, without a warrant or court order.
Please reassure patients that we will protect their information while they are in our care. Refer them to these English or Spanish fact sheets for more information and resources.
