A nearly 12,000-patient study suggests that migraine with aura appears to be associated with increased risk of incident atrial fibrillation (AFib), which may potentially lead to ischemic stroke. After adjustment for multiple confounders, migraine with visual aura had a hazard ratio (HR) of 1.30 for increased risk of Afib when compared with no headache and an HR of 1.39 when compared with migraine without visual aura.
