As a white accomplice, I find the following sentence most critical for other white people to contemplate, “The days of insincere platitudes are long gone.” We must speak up, mess up, and rise up. So many white people are afraid to say the wrong thing (get over it!), to be called racist, to be someone less that we think we are. It is our responsibility to be vulnerable, uncomfortable, take risks, say what needs to be said, and learn, on our own, how to say it. We have to risk saying the wrong thing, using micro aggressions, and being called a racist. How can we grow and unlearn without taking ownership of the learning? It is never the responsibility of people of color to teach us. How arrogant and entitled of an expectation! White silence is one of the biggest issues in our society, and it must end. Speak up, mess up, inspire others, learn something new, enrich your life, and find your voice. PLEASE. Our black and brown communities are exhausted and need us to FINALLY get it. To show up, love, and live what we have been talking about. It’s all about action. We must act and take risks that threaten our privilege. Think about what it means to be a citizen of this world. Show up. Speak up. Participate. Lead. ]]> Comment on Celebrating Life; Honoring Your Health and Your Family by Gina Richardson https://caahealth.org/celebrating-life-honoring-your-health-and-your-family/#comment-3 Tue, 25 Jun 2019 13:22:26 +0000 https://caahealth.org/?p=1637#comment-3 This is important work and I plan to do my part and donate to this fantastic cause.
